Caitlin Policastro, BSN, MSN (ANP/GNP) attended the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate degree in nursing ten years ago. Shortly thereafter, while working in the ICU at Memorial Sloan Kettering Center, she enrolled at Hunter College for her Master’s degree in Adult/Geriatric Health in Nursing. While achieving her Master’s degree, she transferred to the Hospital for Special Surgery to work beside world-renowned orthopedic surgeons in the post-operative unit for four years. Upon completion of her Master’s program, she knew she had a strong calling for integrative medicine after witnessing so many of her patients experience chronic health issues with no reprieve from allopathic medicine.
Viewing patients on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level, as well as accepting each as a unique individual is what makes our practice truly special.
Caitlin has been with the New York Center for Innovative Medicine (NYCIM) for five years and is trained in ACMOS Energy Balancing, neural therapy, oxidative therapies, Bioresonance Analysis of Health (B.A.H.) evaluation, physical therapies, and many more. Over the past several years, she has worked and trained with renowned biological dentists, ND’s, osteopaths, and MD’s and continues to expand her knowledge to integrate the most effective and therapeutic techniques for the center.
Jolanta Szulc, PhD., is the Clinical Director of Psychological Services & Health Counseling at the New York Center for Innovative Medicine (NYCIM). She holds a Master of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from C.W. Post Long Island University, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology as well as a doctoral degree in Clinical/Health Psychology from Fielding Graduate University.
The warm, professional atmosphere and nonjudgmental, safe environment established at the New York Center for Innovative Medicine helps patients face their deeply hidden issues without fear of being blamed or criticized.
Before becoming a health psychologist at NYCIM she worked as a licensed Biofeedback, Neurofeedback and Qualitative EEG practitioner at Long Island Pain Treatment Center in Plainview, NY, and later at Manhattan Advanced Medicine in New York, NY. Throughout her professional career, she has attended many international conferences and seminars featuring unorthodox approaches to psychotherapy and energy medicine including training in ACMOS Energy Balancing, Bert Hellinger’s Family Constellations, Emotional Freedom Technique, and David Hawkins’ Transcending Levels of Consciousness.
Her approach to psychotherapy is holistic and eclectic in nature, depending on the particular need of the patient, and focuses on how mental, emotional, social, and spiritual factors affect a person’s physical well-being. The emphasis is always on the whole person—body, mind and spirit.
The correlation between stress, emotions, and physiological well-being has been well established, and at the New York Center for Innovative Medicine, the entire medical staff works alongside Dr. Jolanta Szulc to provide patients with the right solutions to all the emotional factors contributing to their illness. Offering advanced options such as neuro-behavioral and mindfulness training, cognitive therapy, stress management, heart rate variability training, and for some clients who require processing of old traumas and conflicts, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is being offered. However, one of the most important modalities utilized is a newly emerging Quantum Psychology based on a new generation biofeedback – LIFE biofeedback System, together with quantum counseling based on transcending levels of consciousness.
The L.I.F.E. System is a new generation of biofeedback based an evoked potential. Information obtained via electrodes placed on the body provides clues to the wellness of an individual at an energy field (subtle plane level). A similar system is being used in space to provide astronauts with certain frequencies that they lose while in space. The computer reads an individual’s energy field and generates the list of items that the body perceives as potential emotional stressors. The computer evaluates and re-processes this information and then feedback is given back to the patient to offset the stressful reactions. This process merely assists the body’s own natural defense mechanisms by encouraging energetic balance and harmony. In this manner, each person is assessed and treated based on their unique needs.
The sophisticated system also allows the patient to become aware of the multitude of stressors and how to make a conscious decision in dealing with them in the most beneficial manner. This is done by recognizing that all thoughts and emotions have particular qualities and frequencies, and corresponding levels of consciousness that either helps us to heal and support our well-being or sabotage our health and well-being. As a result, we are able to provide treatment for a wide range of emotional issues which allows us to guide patients to make significant positive changes in their lives and regain their health: physically, emotionally, and spiritually by changing their way of being in the world and developing healthier habits and lifestyle. Of course, this can only be achieved with total willingness and cooperation of the patient. We are sensitive to the patient’s spirituality, and if they desire, we incorporate it into the therapeutic relationship.
The warm, professional atmosphere and nonjudgmental, safe environment established at the New York Center for Innovative Medicine helps patients face their deeply hidden issues without fear of being blamed or criticized. Only then can one start transforming their lives into healthier and more meaningful ones, and become the best version of themselves. To help patients with the process of change and further motivate them to stay on the task, we provide handouts and educational material that feature our holistic approach.
Erin is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been working for the New York Center for Innovative Medicine since 2014. Prior to joining the center, she worked in a community hospital where she learned the importance of connecting with each patient to support them on their journey to good health. Erin has always been passionate about holistic medicine and energy healing.
Healing is a lifelong journey, one that I’m proud to be a part of as we help guide patients to achieve their most optimal state of health.
In addition to being a nurse practitioner, she is also a trained esthetician and massage therapist. With this unique combination of skills, she has created a one of a kind anti-aging program for NYCIM based on the five Chinese elements to help patients feel balanced and beautiful from the inside out (learn more about Elemental Aging). Originally from South Carolina, Erin enjoys spending time in nature hiking and horseback riding, vacationing in the mountains or at the beach, doing yoga, and cooking for family and friends.
Heather Lowery is a Physician Assistant that started working for NYCIM in March of 2019. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Abilene Christian University and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in August of 2014. Heather previously worked in a Functional Medicine clinic where she received training in oxidative therapies, hormone replacement therapy, and more. She also received training in Emergency Medicine and worked in an ER in Midland, TX.
I consider it an honor to be a part of the team at NYCIM. It’s a medical center unlike any other. A place where we truly personalize medicine and give hope to the hopeless.
While she has always had an interest in a more holistic approach to medicine, her desire to pursue a career under the teachings of Dr. Thomas Szulc began after becoming one of his patients. Heather suffered from Chronic Lyme Disease for several years and was successfully cured by the team at NYCIM. After a long and arduous recovery, she decided to return to NYCIM, but this time as a practitioner instead of a patient.
Heather is passionate about guiding others back to health and encouraging them along the way, often with the proper use of personal experience and humor, of course. She enjoys reading sci-fi books, movies, running, being outdoors, and spending ample amounts of time with friends and family.
Caspar is the President and Co-Founder of Innovative Medicine – a company dedicated to transforming healthcare through an advanced and truly comprehensive form of personalized integrative medicine – as well as the managing director of the New York Center for Innovative Medicine (NYCIM). Being the son of Dr. Szulc, his life was shaped traveling the world and experiencing many of the therapies and modalities now used as part of a comprehensive approach to healing patients at the center.
I’ve always felt the medical field can greatly benefit from a more entrepreneurial approach that aims to educate and empower the patient. Combine this with a world-class and one-of-a-kind clinical treatment process and you have a winning formula that places the patient first and pushes the boundaries of what is possible.
Looking ahead, Caspar is aiming to make a larger impact and share what he has learned from some of the brightest medical minds in various fields in order to help people preserve our greatest treasure – health. This includes creating more advanced health products, expanding the medical clinic sector of his business, and launching new initiatives to empower and educate the public.
An avid traveler and explorer, Caspar has visited 6 continents, 61 countries, and all 50 states in the U.S. His search for new therapies, modalities and how other cultures heal continues to take him to new places around the planet. He has applied the knowledge gained from traveling and his unique upbringing to help others achieve a healthier, happier existence. He enjoys mountain climbing (climbed three of the 7 Summits), tennis (attended all 4 Grand Slams), meditation, and volunteering as a Big Brother to a wonderful Little. Caspar now resides in Battery Park City, NYC.
I started my wonderful adventure with NYCIM back in July 2009. I was always interested in caring for others even at a young age. I knew there has to be more than conventional medicine, and my journey and what I’ve learned while being at NYCIM has been extaordinary.
Speaking with patients and seeing their healing journey unfold has been such a source of joy for me. To see the transformation from sickness and disease to restored health is unlike anything else, and something I wish for more that are currently suffering.
That is why I hold a Bachelor’s degree in health science (from my homeland in Poland), finished an occupational therapy assistant program, as well as massage therapy. My goal is to provide the best service and knowledge to those who need and want it. NYCIM is a healing place with wonderful employees who love what they do. The power is in the knowledge and belief that each of us as a collective unit contain and share each and every day.
